SWADESHI MOVEMENT AND BOYCOTT | TILAK

To choose swadeshi is not something happening for the first time in India. Bal Gangadhar Tilak in 1905 encouraged the Swadeshi movement and the Boycott movement. The movement consisted of the boycott of foreign goods. The Swadeshi movement consisted of the usage of natively produced goods. Once foreign goods were boycotted, there was a gap which had to be filled by the production of those goods in India itself. Tilak said that the Swadeshi and Boycott movements are two sides of the same coin.

This choice of swadeshi over foreign is the talk of the country these days as well. Even though most of the focus in the early 19th century was on hardware products but in the modern 21st century, with the increase in science and technology we need to boycott both foreign hardware and software products.

Indian companies and brands have products similar to those which are foreign made, we just need to put our faith in native products and choose country made ones.

“If we opt for made in India products made by tribals, masons, carpenters… 130 crore Indians will become changemakers to make India a better place,” said Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal speaking at the third edition of the BL Changemaker Awards on Friday.

Our country's educationalist, entrepreneurs, as well as our honored Prime Minister are encouraging Swadeshi products. The mission to boycott foreign products has started, many social influencers and highly values people have as well joined hands in the mission to bring about change in Indian economy by choosing DESI over VIDESI.

Even though it will take some time but the first step has been taken to make India a developed country and use the citizen's wallet power for its own country. It is just a matter of time that the entire country will be together in the motive to choose swadeshi.
